It's funny that the some of the highest rated user-generated content on youtube may be from a professional source. I suppose that there is a pretty small pool of talent out there and professional handlers are good at spotting it. When you think about it Wikipedia is an example of user generated content that can be debugged in the OpenSource software model whereas excellent short film is a fait accompli with less room for large-scale participation. What is clear is that professionals will follow the audience and youtube has a pretty big one to show off your talent.
